EgyptAir is Egypt’s national carrier and Africa’s oldest operating airline, founded in 1932 and hubbed at Cairo International Airport. A Star Alliance member since 2008, it operates a fleet of around 65 aircraft — including new-generation Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners and Airbus A220-300s — to more than 80 destinations across Africa, Europe, the Middle East, Asia and the Americas. From Tanzania, EgyptAir connects Dar es Salaam via Cairo, with a new Zanzibar route launching in September 2026.

Baggage Allowance

Standard allowance: Economy Class passengers get 2 checked bags up to 23kg each; Business Class passengers get 2 checked bags up to 32kg each. Cabin baggage is limited to one bag up to 8kg.

Excess baggage: can be paid for in advance online (cheaper) or at the airport; rates vary by route and are charged per kilogram or per additional bag.

Sports & special equipment: golf bags, diving gear and similar sports equipment are generally accepted as part of your checked allowance or for an additional fee — contact EgyptAir in advance to confirm.
