Founded in 1945, Ethiopian Airlines is Africa’s largest carrier by fleet size, revenue and network reach, and a Star Alliance member serving more than 140 destinations across five continents from its Addis Ababa hub. It’s long had close ties to Tanzania — the Dar es Salaam route dates back to 1966 — and it currently flies direct to Dar es Salaam, Kilimanjaro (it was the first international carrier to serve JRO) and Zanzibar, all connecting through Addis Ababa.

Manage Your Booking & Check-in
Already booked with Ethiopian Airlines? Use the airline’s own tools below to manage your trip or check in online.
Manage Booking (Official) Online Check-in (Official)
Online check-in opens 48 hours before departure and closes 2 hours prior, available on both domestic and international flights.
Baggage Allowance
Economy typically includes 2 checked pieces up to 23kg each; Business Class 2 pieces up to 32kg each, though this varies by route and fare. Extra baggage can be pre-purchased online at a discount for flights operated directly by Ethiopian.
Excess baggage: around $100 per overweight bag (23–32kg) on intercontinental routes; oversized bags (over 158cm) add roughly $200–300.
Sports & special equipment: standard sporting gear (up to 32kg, 300cm) flies free within your allowance — golf and bikes just need advance notice. Items like diving, skiing and cycling equipment beyond that are billed at set item rates (bicycles and golf equipment around $100, surfboards around $200).
Traveling as a group? Ethiopian treats 10+ passengers on one itinerary as a group — bookings go through their local office rather than online, with names due 30–60 days before departure. We can coordinate this for you.
