Air Tanzania Company Limited (ATCL) is Tanzania’s own national carrier, wholly owned by the government and hubbed at Julius Nyerere International Airport in Dar es Salaam. Founded in 1977, it has been steadily rebuilding its fleet and international network since around 2016, and today flies domestic routes to Zanzibar, Kilimanjaro, Mwanza, Arusha and other points, alongside regional and international routes to destinations including Dubai, Mumbai, Entebbe, Lusaka, Harare and the Seychelles.

Domestic flights: counters open 2 hours before departure and close 45 minutes prior. International (continental) flights: counters open 3 hours before and close 1 hour prior. Online check-in is reportedly available up to 48 hours ahead, though not for every international itinerary — check your booking confirmation for details.
Baggage Allowance
Cabin baggage up to 7kg. Checked baggage is typically up to 23kg on domestic routes, with higher allowances on some international routes — this varies by fare class and route, so confirm the exact figure on your ticket.
Excess baggage: domestic excess is charged at roughly TZS 8,000 per kilogram over your allowance; regional and international rates vary by route.
Sports & special equipment: golf and fishing gear travel with a handling fee of about TZS 95,000 domestically, $100 regionally, or $160 on international routes.
